Promise ZER0.0 Pledge Signing

This activity will help your team bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving and help encourage your peers to speak up for safety and promise to always drive sober. At the conclusion of the activity, post your banner in a high-traffic area on your campus to remind your peers of their commitment to never drive impaired.

 Items Needed

  • Butcher Paper
  • Markers/Paint – for creating banner
  • Tape – for posting banner
  • Markers – for signing banner
  • Table
  • I DRIVE 0.0 stickers (included in your TDS kit)

 Steps

  1. When choosing the date, place, and time for your pledge-signing, make sure you choose a location where you will be able to interact with as many of your peers as possible such as during lunch, before or after school, or at a sporting event.
  2. Before your event, create a banner out of butcher paper with a message asking your peers to promise to never drive impaired. Make sure you leave space for your peers to sign around your message. Come up with your own wording or use one of these:
    • PROMISE ZERO.O – I promise to keep my BAC ZER0.0
    • PROMISE ZERO.O – Zero Tolerance means ZERO DRINKING
    • PROMISE ZERO.O – I promise to always drive sober
  3. Hand out I DRIVE O.O stickers to anyone who signs the banner.
  4. At the conclusion of your activity, post your banner in a high-traffic area on your campus to remind your peers of their commitment to never drive impaired.
  5. Post photos of your activity on your social media channels to further promote the message of safe driving and tag @teensdriverseat so we can see your great work, too.
  6. Submit an online activity form at t-driver.com to get credit for your efforts.

Don’t Forget

The goal of this activity is to encourage your peers to commit to never driving impaired and to speak up when they see someone considering getting behind the wheel while impaired.

 Make it GREAT

  • Pair this activity with the Speak (C)up! Not Everyone is Doing It activity to emphasize your message.
  • Use the impaired driving flash cards included in your TDS Resource Kit to ask questions while your peers are at the table signing the banner.
