In regards to the You in the Driver Seat App:
The app uses location data in the background to be able to track a users driving behavior during a trip. Since we are trying to prevent distracted driving, we monitor the device in the background only during trips. The goal of the app is to encourage users not to use their phone while driving. During the trip the location data and any distractions are captured. The location data is used for showing a map of the trip and to illustrate (when applicable) where any distractions occurred as constructive feedback to the user. Points are awarded for safe driving/safe trips wherein no distractions occurred. Accumulated points can be redeemed for rewards.
