Making their way downtown, the TAB takes NYC

The Teens in the Driver Seat® (TDS) Teen Advisory Board (TAB) was invited to New York City for a transformative leadership experience at the National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) headquarters. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity allowed TAB members to represent youth voice on a national stage while deepening their commitment to traffic safety advocacy.
Throughout the trip, students engaged in meaningful conversations with road safety professionals, learning firsthand how national organizations develop and implement strategies to reduce crashes and save lives. TAB members participated in leadership-focused sessions that strengthened their communication, teamwork, and professional networking skills, while also gaining insight into transportation safety and public service.

In addition to formal learning opportunities, the experience fostered peer connection and personal growth as students collaborated, shared perspectives, and reflected on their roles as youth leaders. The trip reinforced the importance of teen-led advocacy and empowered participants to return to their communities with renewed confidence, motivation, and actionable ideas to advance traffic safety initiatives.

This leadership trip not only broadened students’ understanding of the national impact of traffic safety efforts but also reaffirmed the value of investing in youth leadership. TAB members returned inspired and equipped to continue serving as ambassadors for Teens in the Driver Seat®, using their voices to influence positive change and help build safer roads for everyone.
