Esmeralda Treviño, Harlingen South High School, February 2020 Teen of the Month

“I truly believe that this generation is the generation of change…” – Esmeralda Treviño

Q: Why are you involved in Teens in the Driver Seat®?
A:
I’m involved with Teens in the Driver Seat (TDS) because I love the message it sends to teens. I think that more teens need to hear a message like the one that TDS is sending because it can save many lives.

Q: What do you like most about being a part of the Teens in the Driver Seat® program?
A: I like promoting the Teens in the Driver Seat program because I LOVE the message it sends to teens. I truly believe that this generation is the generation of change and that car accidents involving teens are only going to affect our future in the worst way possible.

Q: In five words or less, describe yourself.
A: Loyal, hardworking, determined, loud, and caring.

Q: What do you want to be when you are older?
A: In five years I see myself attending my dream College University of Texas at Austin studying to be a defense attorney.

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: My hobbies include competing on my schools Speech and Debate team.

Q: Who do you look up to?
A: I look up to Diane Guerrero, a Latina actress who shows that no matter what you can achieve any goal.

Q: If you could change one thing about the way your friends drive or ride in the car, what would it be?
A: I would want my friends to be more self-aware while on the road. My friends tend to forget there are other people on the road and all it takes is a simple mistake to change everything.

Q: If you could do anything in the world or go anywhere, what/where would it be?
A: I would take my mom to New York to visit the big apple, a place that we have dreamed of going to for years.
