Alexa Garfias, Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Teen of the Month March 2022

“I believe in teens! I firmly believe that many teens care more about driving safety these days because we’ve seen how many people our age have passed away to driving recklessly. I think they (us) can make a difference!” Alexa Garfias, AGE 16

Q: Why are you involved in the Teens in the Driver Seat® program and what do you like most about being a part of the team?
A: I enjoy being a part of the team because I’m able to realize how important it is to drive safe and being aware of all of the bad things that could happen if we decide to not pay attention in the road.

Q: If you could change one thing about the way your friends drive or ride in the car, what would it be?
A: Regarding my friends, I would not change anything since they are mostly good drivers. But I would change driving behaviors on other drivers and make sure people and teens know about the driving risks!

Q: What’s the biggest life lesson you’ve learned?
A: The biggest lesson I have ever learned is basically to be true to yourself and know what you want in life!

Q: What hashtags would your best friend or person you are closest to use to describe you?
A: The five hashtags my friends would describe me as would be #kind, #adventurous, #determined, #independent, and #loving.

Q: What would you say to inspire other teens to care more about safe driving/traffic safety?
A: I believe in teens! I firmly believe that many teens care more about driving safety these days because we’ve seen how many people our age have passed away to driving recklessly. I think they (us) can make a difference!
