The excitement of Halloween gets the best of us all. Staying out on a school night to celebrate with the witches and ax murderers is fun and the highlight of fall. As you plan your night out, remember there are others who are doing the same. Here are some tips to help keep all monsters safe.
- Neighborhoods will have more pedestrians and bicyclists than normal. Slow down and watch for goblins
- Be especially careful where cars are parked along the street and little superheros can’t be seen and may forget to stop, look and listen before crossing
- Watch for little ghouls everywhere, not just at intersections
- Yield to princesses, knights and other pedestrians
- Don’t pass stopped vehicles; they may be dropping off dragons and sorcerers
- Use your signals and communicate with other drivers
- Costumes – theirs and yours – can impair vision and movement. Don’t place anything over or around your eyes that may distract you or block your view and watch for other villains who may have a hard time seeing you. It may be safer to take your costume with you and get dressed at your final destination
