As a first-year TDS school, Brenham High School, was among 48 high schools to be recognized as an Outstanding TDS school. The honor became even bigger when their State Representative presented them with their plaque on June 17.
Rep. Lois Kolkhorst commended Brenham High School TDSers, Angela Wesnowski and Kristie Collins, and their teacher sponsor, Linda Thaler, for spreading the TDS message at BHS.
“What you all are doing here, is really important,” said Rep. Kolkhorst. “We spend more time teaching our kids how to play baseball, volleyball, and piano, than we do teaching them how to drive.”
Rep. Kolkhorst, who chairs the Public Health Committee in the Texas House of Representatives, has helped to write and pass laws to make teen drivers safer.
Brenham High School’s TDS team has been very active this year. They completed both the pre and post TDS assessments, handed out promotional items during lunch periods, had their peers make New Year’s Resolutions to stop texting while driving, and entered a video into the Driving the Message contest.
Way to go, Brenham High School! Keep up the good work.
