Sept. 2017 Social Media Contest, Texas

Raise Awareness of New Statewide Law in Effect September 1, 2017

Texas has finally joined most of the nation in banning texting while driving. Texting while driving within the state of Texas will be punishable by a fine of $25-99 for first-time offenders, and $100-200 for repeat offenders (though no points will be assigned). It’s important to note that this new law addresses “reading, writing, or sending electronic messages” via a “wireless communication device.”

Participate in our social media awareness contest during the month of September as a way to remind your friends and family not to use their phone while driving. The top 10 people with the most likes will win a $10 Whataburger gift card!

How to participate:

  1. Share/Retweet the new Prohibited Sign from one of Teens in the Driver Seat’s social media channels (Facebook or Twitter). If you share the sign on your Instagram, make sure to tag @teensdriverseat
  2. When you share/retweet the post, ask for friends to like your picture in support of Not Using a Phone While Driving
  3. The 10 people (students only) with the MOST LIKES on their photo by September 30, 2017, will receive a $10 gift card!
