My daughter died in a car accident in 2005. The person driving was intoxicated and driving too fast. She HAD a seat belt on; however, it was a flip over accident and the air bags did not deploy. Her head went out the window and was crushed between the car and the pavement. So, in most accidents, seat belts do save lives; however, when someone behind the wheel is drunk – anything can happen even if you have your seat belt on. NEVER GET IN A VEHICLE IF THE DRIVER HAS BEEN DRINKING. NO ONE KNOWS THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL SOMEONE CAN HANDLE. MOST PEOPLE CAN’T HANDLE ANY ALCOHOL. YOU HAVE A VOICE – YOU HAVE A CHOICE. DRIVE RESPONSIBLY. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE. DON’T BE SLEEPY AND DRIVE. DON’T BE ON THE CELL PHONE. AND DON’T GET INTO A VEHICLE IF SOMEONE HAS BEEN DRINKING, IS SLEEPY, OR LIKES TO DRIVE FAST. DISTRACTIONS CAN BE FATAL.
