| Plan a Seat Belt Hero Day where you will set up a table in a high-traffic area and ask your peers to be a hero and wear a (tape) “seat belt” all day to highlight the importance of buckling up. |
Items Needed
|
- Tape (Duck or painter’s tape works well) – assorted colors
- Scissors
- A table in a high-traffic area
- Seat Belt Hero stickers (from your resource kit) – optional
|
Steps
|
- Set up a table in a high-traffic area before school or during lunch.
- Ask your peers to pledge to always buckle up and to wear a tape “seat belt” all day to highlight the importance of being a seat belt hero. Don’t forget to encourage your teachers and other adults on campus to participate, too.
- Hand out Seat Belt Hero stickers (from your resource kit) to everyone who participates.
- Take photos during the activity and share them, along with information on distracted driving, on your school’s social media channels and/or website.
- Complete an activity form to get All-Star credit.
|
Don’t Forget
|
| The goal of this activity is to help you talk to your peers about the importance of wearing their seat belts and to help you start a conversation with your peers on how to speak up for their safety. |
Make it GREAT
|
- Plan this activity while completing the All-Star Seat Belt Unit.
- Take photos of students with their “seat belts” by your Real Heroes Wear Seat Belts bulletin board to post on your social media channels to further promote the message of safe driving and tag @teensdriverseat so we can see your great work, too.
