California & Georgia Pedal Kart, Trike, and Drunk Mat Resources

kart_sharePedal Karts, Trikes, and Drunk Mats are available to TDS program schools for impaired driving and distracted driving prevention activities. Use with drunk goggles or a distraction with pedal karts on an obstacle course for best results. Use drunk goggles with mats for best results.

Pedal Karts:

  • You are responsible for picking up and returning, unless other arrangements have been made.
  • If the kart changes locations for an extended amount of time, please notify Stacey Tisdale by email or call 210-979-9411 so we may update our list.
  • Pedal Karts are fairly large. 36” wide and about 70” long, so space to store is first priority. I can get them into a low vehicle (like a van) by myself, but for a taller vehicle, you need 2 people to load it. They can be transported in a van without seats, a large SUV, or pickup truck.
  • The seat can be lifted and moved to accommodate riders of all sizes, but smaller teens do have a tough time pedaling and may require a ‘push’ to get started.
  • Weight limit is 250 pounds.
  • The most maintenance they need is air in the tires from time to time. They’ve been very reliable.
  • Pedal Karts do not go fast (unless you are on a steep decline) and are pretty heavy to pedal. A flat, paved surface works best for activities.
  • They are very popular and attract a lot of attention and the prevention activities are fun and engaging.

Trikes:

  • Please read the Caution section of the activity sheet!
  • You are responsible for picking up and returning, unless other arrangements have been made.
  • If the trike changes locations for an extended amount of time, please notify Stacey Tisdale by email or call 210-979-9411 so we may update our list.
  • Trikes are more easily transported in a large car or SUV.
  • Maintain with air in the tires from time to time.
  • The seat can not be adjusted.
  • Weight limit is 250 pounds.
  • Trikes can go fast on flat straight paths. They do not have a chain nor brakes. Do not allow the user to build up speed! Use on a short obstacle course for best results.

If you would like to borrow a pedal kart, trike, or mat for an activity/event, please contact the closest location to arrange a pickup time:
