Participate in TxDOT’s Annual Teen Click It or Ticket

Your school has the opportunity to participate with the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) annual Teen Click It or Ticket to educate students about the importance of seat belts. It’s easy to participate and an important message to get out since teens are the most likely to NOT wear their seat belts and seat belts save thousands of lives each year.

The campaign is conducted around Valentine’s Day (February 14) and you’ll get lots of free materials and activity suggestions to get the message out. You’ll get banners, posters, signage, and lots of project ideas.

Not only will you be participating in saving lives, your school can also WIN prizes. Three schools will be drawn to receive a complimentary Wrecked Truck presentation in March. This truck, mounted on a trailer, was involved in a real teen crash where seat belts saved the teens lives. For several years, TxDOT has used a wrecked truck to show students why seat belts are so important. This year, an audio component has been added to the display. Students can listen to a realistic reenactment of the crash that puts them in the driver’s seat — and reminds them that seat belt use is critically important.
