Be the Light – Nighttime Bulletin Board Activity

Bulletin boards in high-traffic areas provide you with a great opportunity to reach your peers. Use the “Be the Light” bulletin board resources provided in your resource kit to create a bulletin board that provides valuable information and starts a conversation about the risks of driving at night, and tips on how to be safe. These materials are designed to be cut out and displayed on a bulletin board, window, or another high-traffic area on your campus(minimum 4′ x 6′ area).

 Items Needed

  • Be the Light Bulletin Board Pieces
  • Stapler or tape
  • Bulletin board, window, or wall in high traffic area

 Steps

  1. Identify a location that students pass by frequently to post the “Be the Light” materials.
  2. Cut out bulletin board materials to be posted. A sample layout is provided, but feel free to lay out however you choose, making sure the educational information is correct.
  3. Promote the bulletin board by sharing night driving-related facts during morning announcements.
  4. Plan to leave the bulletin board up for 3-4 weeks to ensure all students see it.
  5. Take photos of the bulletin board with your team to post on your social media channels and tag @TeensDriverSeat so we can see your great work.
  6. Submit an online activity form to get credit for your efforts.

Don’t Forget

The goal of this activity is to have an easy-to-manage but educational activity that looks different from a poster to help students learn more about the risks of driving at night. This is also designed to help start a conversation about driving safely at night.
