Why are you involved in Teens in the Driver Seat?
I am involved in Teens in the Driver Seat because I have become well aware that teenagers are reckless drivers and I believe that if a teenager shows his/her concern for their peers, teenagers will listen.
How did you get involved with Teens in the Driver Seat?
I got involved with Teens in The Driver Seat by my DECA teacher, Irma Rosas, who asked me to participate in it.
What are you doing to help save lives?
I am working throughout my school and community marketing “saving lives” with a PowerPoint presentation that my partners, Julian Olivares, Sienna Hastings and I have created. We have presented our PowerPoint creation at Bassett Center Mall, Silva’s Supermarket, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and El Paso High School DECA and Health classes. We also surveyed teens, asking them to sign a paper promising to practice safe driving.
Why should other schools join the Teens in the Driver Seat program?
Other schools should join TDS because the message needs to be heard. The more teenagers promote safe driving, the safer the driving environment will be.
If you could change one thing about the way your friends drive, what would it be?
If I could change my friends’ driving style, I would make sure their cell phones were put away, the radio was at a reasonable volume and that their full attention was on the road.
