After a record-setting first year, the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts (VMT) is planning their second annual 5K Run.
The run will be held on March 7. There will be a couple of changes this year: the registration process will now be online and cyclists will also be included in this year’s race.
The inaugural 5K run, held last year, made history, as it was the largest event of its kind recorded in Laredo and South Texas history.

For some teens, sexting is an all-too-common activity, and they don’t see why it’s such a big deal. For those of you who haven’t ever heard of sexting, it’s the practice of sharing explicit photos, videos and chat, by cell phone or online – and it has become pretty popular with teenagers.
An Associated Press-MTV poll found that more than a quarter of young people have been involved in sexting in some form, at some time.

Last week, December 7-12 was Safe Teen Driving week in Connecticut. Governor M. Jodi Rell announced the weeklong observance in order to spread the word about safe teen driving.
According to the Wilton Bulletin, during the week many different state and local agencies participated to “spotlight efforts of parents and teens to review their safety discussions and practices.”

Pick the student leaders who will be in charge of the program (usually 8-12 students). Make sure that there is a teacher/sponsor who will serve as support for the program…

It’s that time of year again: time to wake up early, roll out of bed and head back to school. Teens in the Driver Seat (TDS) wants to remind you to start out safe, and stay safe, this school year!
The top five risks for teen drivers are driving at night, distractions (cell phones, too many teen passengers), speeding or racing, not wearing a safety belt, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Here are a few friendly tips to keep you safe whether you’re driving or riding to school, or going anywhere else in a car:
