Close call
I was driving on the highway when I saw a billboard that said “Let’s get ice cream after you paralyze us.” The first time I passed it I smiled, the billboard was dripping with sarcasm. It was the kind of comment my little brother would use on his friends or my parents.
I started thinking some more about how serious distracted driving is. I thought about my most recent close call. My phone was ringing it was just out of my reach but I could read the words “mom calling” I was running late and I was just going to tell her I was on my way. Instead of doing the smart thing and pulling over, I reached over the seat grabbing the steering wheel and pulled my phone over. By the time I looked back up the light had turned red. I slammed on my brakes literally stopping inches from the person in front of me. My heart did that thing like when you ride a roller coaster. OMG I almost hit him and who knows what else could have happened.
Now I always pull over. That close call was too close for comfort.

Funny . . . but true!!!
