Distracted driving awareness gets a boost
A new group is working to get drivers to put down their cell phones. FocusDriven describes itself as “an advocacy group for victims of motor vehicle crashes involving drivers using cell phones.”
The group is focused on spreading awareness about distracted driving and providing a support group to those who have been victims of distracted driving.
Both the Department of Transportation and the National Safety Council support the group.
According to the New York Times, “the group evolved out of the distracted driving summit” which was held in Washington, D.C., in September 2009. It is anticipated that they will be taking many pointers from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
