Cumby High School starts up strong
Cumby High School in Cumby, Texas started up their Teens in the Driver Seat program strong this semester. Each week they will be giving their peers tips on ways to improve their safety while driving.
What have they done so far?
Week 1:
- TDS members made flyers and placed them on windshields of student vehicles and in the hallways of the high school. On the flyers were the top five crash-risks for teens and ways to avoid them.
Week 2:
- Team members passed out TDS business cards attached to Extra gum to encourage teens to be “Extra” careful while driving.
- They also made body cutouts with tape on the floor in hallways and taped one of their safe-driving flyers to the inside of the cutouts.
Weeks 3 and 4:
- The team passed out TDS bracelets to students that could identify the five crash risks they face when driving.
This week the TDS members of Cumby High School will be handing out TDS car air fresheners to their peers.
Every Friday teens and sponsors in the program wear their “6,000″ shirts to remind students of how many teens are killed every year from car crashes. The team members also take turns sharing teen driving statistics in their morning announcements.
Kudos to Cumby High School’s TDS program for doing their part to fight the number one killer of teens in the America.
